Advice
If you need advice on something straightforward you may be able to ask your parents or a friend. If it is more complicated, either of these people may be able to assist you by helping you find the best person to talk to and supporting you to do it. Remember that people with a learning disability are able to access the same sources of advice as any other citizen. Examples are the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and the Disability Law Service, but there are many more and it is often best to go to a place that specialises in the subject you are interested in. For anything connected with your learning disability, including education, health, benefits, housing, work, care and support, Andover & District Mencap has 45 years experience of advising learning disabled people on these subjects. If you need advice on benefits, please call the Benefits Adviser on 01264 321854. If you need other advice please call the Families Adviser on 01264 321855. |
