Carer Support

Carer SupportNo family carer of a person with a learning disability should feel that they are without support.  We respond as soon as we can to any request for help and it will usually be the Families Adviser that will respond, but from time-to-time it could be someone else.  What you can expect is a friendly helping hand to support you and, if you need specialist help, we will help you to arrange it.  You will usually receive support until your difficulties are resolved or be directed to another organisation that has responsibility for resolving your problem. Please call us on 01264 321855, alternatively call 01264 321840 and then 0 when asked.

Unfortunately we are unable to provide a 24 hour emergency service.  If you have an out of hours crisis please download our factsheet called “Crisis Support” or click here.

Older family carers get together to provide mutual support in a social setting through an informal group called the Senior Parents Group.  For more information on the group please see the page on the grey menu to the left.

For younger parents a mutual support group facilitated by Andover & District Mencap exists that is called BANG!   Please download our factsheet called “BANG!” from this page.
