Valuing People identified many examples of where people can become marginalized and excluded. Much of this was because of shortcomings in many statutory services and a lack of visibility of the needs of learning disabled people. But many people can become excluded and marginalized because they do not have the confidence, social skills and fundamental knowledge to integrate into their mainstream peer group. Moreover, the difficulties they face in understanding what they need to do to maintain their own health can lead to a breakdown in their health and well being.

There is very little provision in the community post formal education to address these issues, especially to our more severely disabled members.

Charitable Services seek to address this shortfall and support our members to meet these needs. This is achieved through a variety of approaches where the needs for learning, development of social skills, language, work skills, and other gainful activity can be addressed. We find fun ways to do this to maintain interest and motivation with many positive outcomes.
