Fund-Raising

As you might imagine, funding our activities is a major challenge and this concentrates the minds of all of us.

The fundamentals of our fund-raising strategy are to earn what we can, fund-raise locally to supplement this and hope for outside help to top this up if needed. If you have visited the rest of this site, I hope you will agree that we make a huge difference to the lives of learning disabled people, relieving the poverty of affection, the poverty of support, the poverty of social engagement and poverty of genuine care ­ all of which can lead to an appalling quality of life. Thankfully most of our members receive good care and support from family carers, but young people with a learning disability grow up and want their independence like any other young adult. We help them develop, learn social skills and to integrate into society, including in the field of work.

We help many people with a learning disability by supporting their parents to support them. We turn away no-one with a learning disability who lives on our patch. For some people, we are all that they have to turn to.

We are very grateful to those people and organisations that support the work we do. They are absolutely vital to us. We are committed to engaging with them and hosting visits from them.
