Governance
Andover & District Mencap is governed by a Board of Trustees. The trustees' role, in partnershop with the Chief Executive and staff, is to provide the vision and the overall direction of the charity's work.
The financial plan or budget has to be approved by the trustees each year.
The Trustees are drawn from all walks of life and some are parents or siblings of people with a learning disability.
The Trustees follow the guidance of the Charity Commission in the way in which they conduct their busisness. The Charity Commission’s five objectives are:
- to increase public trust and confidence in charities.
- to ensure that they meet the public benefit requirement.
- to encourage charity trustees to comply with their legal obligations in exercising control and management of the administration of their charities.
- to promote the effective use of charitable resources.
- to make charities more accountable to their beneficiaries, donors and the public.
Domicilliary care for adults is regulated by the The Care Quality Commission and respite care for children is regulated by Ofsted. |
