Social Care Systems

There are effectively two care systems.  The old system is based upon a model of care that is entirely directed and commissioned by local authorities.  There is a variant of this where the service user purchases there own care using Direct Payments.

The new system of care being rolled out in some counties, including Hampshire, allows users much more freedom to live their lives as they wish, providing what they do achieves the outcomes agreed with the local authority.  Under this model, users have an Individual Budget and determine the nature of their own support.
